Mum's Day Off!

I just love this picture and the story that goes with it about a Mum who decided that today she wasn't going to do all the things that she normally does because it captures explicitly the day in the life of a woman who has made the decision to be a Family & Home Manager as her primary assignment in life.

Keeping out the Big Bad Wolf!!

Many times in fairytales the villain or enemy is depicted as a big bad wolf, something which was easy to identify and when in pantomimes you could shout out 'there he is' to some unsuspecting individual. However in reality the villain or enemy isn't always so obvious and their major weapon is deception. Villains thrive on preying on the naivety of their victims and unfortunately, in today's society their are numerous villains just longing to get their hands on the 'innocent'.

Jesus said in John 10:1 "Anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber". This highlights the fact that there is a correct way of entering a private residence. To get into your house you would most probably use a key, to access your email account a password and to access your bank account you would use a pin. These are the correct way to get access into a secure area.

To get access into your body there are various gates; your eye gate, ear gate and mouth gate. These give access to your mind and spirit. To gain access into you physically you would use your mouth or vagina. For a villain to enter you physically, it would be very difficult for them to do it without your consent or knowledge. You would have to be knocked out, taken by force, bound and possibly gagged.

However to gain entrance to you mentally and spiritually there are a number of highly sophisticated techniques that are being used by various 21st century villains one in particular is the media.

In many of the popular songs that you sing there are hidden messages. Some are coded so the words which are being sung do not mean what you think they do e.g. using the word banana to represent the word penis. Other messages can only be discovered when the song is played backwards, while others hide a large amount of symbolism in their videos with the use of subliminal messages, erotic dances, clothing and imagery.

How many of us would stand on the altar on a Sunday morning and sing about oral sex or having an orgasm? Or would you sing about masturbation, group orgies, sex outside of marriage, cheating on a loved one or being the cause of the break-up of a marriage because of an affair? But you do unknowingly every day when singing these popular songs. This is the method they use to enter in to you, the temple of the living God, and rob you of your innocence and cause you to be defiled without even knowing it.

Psalm 19:14 says "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer". Meditate on this scripture and allow the Holy Spirit to show you areas where you need to be more vigilant in order to protect your virtue.

Dress Sense!!

I am so inspired by the scripture Titus 2:4 and therefore I am continuing to write on the topic 'Teach the Young Women'. Today I want to discuss the issue of clothing and how we as christian women dress and present ourselves to the rest of the world. God looks on your heart but unfortunately human beings see the outside of you.

From whom do we learn our sense of fashion? Our mums, friends, the catwalk models, movie and rock stars? Who? Fashion is an individual thing and is one of the many outlets through which we are able to express ourselves, so our sense of dress is a reflection of our own personality. What does the outfit that you are wearing say about you? Far too often our clothes announce our arrival and send messages such as; I'm desperate, I'm available, I'm lonely, I'm easy, don't mess with me, I just want to be invisible, I just want to be noticed or I am confident.

When I was slightly 'younger' females in the church weren't allowed to wear trousers, now that might seem archaic to some readers because thankfully we have moved away from the do's and don't and have trusted christian women to follow their own conscience concerning their dress sense. However, far too often we as human beings tend to throw out the baby with the bath water and we now have varied degrees of the interpretation of 'modesty' being revealed.

What I would suggest is that when you go shopping or when dressing yourselves in the morning you remember who you are. You remember that you are valuable and that a very high price was paid for you. Remember that you are royalty and that your very presence should be respected. You are chosen, set apart for a unique purpose and that you are special, one of a kind, there is no one else on this earth like you. Most importantly remember that you are loved. With these thoughts in mind and penetrating the very core of your being you cannot wear anything less than what makes you look your very best.

Teach the Young Women!

'Teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children' it says in Titus 2:4 but how often is this command carried out or is it more often swept under the carpet for fear of the backlash of Ms Independent.

If the Bible were written in the year 2010 do you think that this verse would have been omitted? Is it still necessary? Is it relevant to the lives of the young women of the 21st Century to be taught how to be sober, how to love their husbands and their children? Do the young women of today really need this I mean they have the mental aptitude to run fortune 500 companies so why on earth do they need to be taught something as simple as how to love their very own families? So what is this all about then?

If you read on the scripture goes further to say ' To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed'. The key to this way of living is in the very last section, so that God's name is kept in honour. God is not about inequality and injustice, in fact He is totally against such things (Gal 3:28 there is neither bond nor free, male nor female etc). So these verses of scripture were not written to put women down, quite the contrary. A home that's foundations are rooted in love is a home where each member is truly liberated and is free to express themselves and be all they were meant to be to reach their God given potential.

The Language of Love

We all have our own interpretations of love and all receive love differently. Don't allow miscommunication to mess up a good thing.

My tip: Let's become bilingual and learn each other's love language.

To have and to hold

Marriage season is upon us, the time for love and romance, fun and laughter. Marriage can be heaven on earth or something quite the opposite. Just like pizza all marriages are unique and will be exactly what you decide to put on it. So throw on all the things that make each other happy and that you both love to indulge in. Remember the secret to a successful marriage is in the foundation. Just like a pizza needs a good base so marriage needs to be founded on a good frienship 'Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage' (Heb 13:4). My marriage tip: Hold on tight and enjoy the journey!
